RNC Update: Blackwell?

RedState, in a post titled "Rumor of the Day":
I hear that Ken Blackwell, the former Secretary of State of Ohio, is seriously considering throwing his hat into the ring for RNC Chairman against Michael Steele.
Blackwell is active in the NRA, the National Taxpayers Union, and also is a big Club for Growth fan.
Some of the people I talked to this morning said that Blackwell, like Steele, is a fresh face for the GOP, but unlike Steele conservatives tell me they know where Blackwell stands on issues.
Now all we need is J.C. Watts to throw his hat in the ring if we're just out looking for an African-American to go up against Obama instead of looking for the most qualified guy. Republicans should not be engaged in this level of "me-too-ism" that most people find disingenuous anyway.
Hmmm. Hadn't heard that one. As one of the 36.65% percent of Ohioans who voted for Blackwell in 2006, my feelings are pretty clear. I like the guy and would vote for him again. It is true that people know where Blackwell stands. Steele people are a little less sure about.
Quite honestly, I really don't think either one is right for the job. Fact is that Blackwell got blown out in 2006. Yeah, it was a bad year in Ohio to be a Republican - especially to be running to replace Bob Taft. But it wasn't 36.65% bad. I don't see that as an image you want as your party chairman - someone who got blown out in his last election.

I hope he wins. The biggest thing working against him is the "Let's bring them all under our tent crowd" that helped us lose the last 2 campaign cycles. Face it when you have the Tafts and Householders run as conservatives and legislate as liberals is there no wonder why we lose elections? The nation as a whole is center right and the reason why we lost is we threw a moderatly liberal Republican at them that went to back to D.C. to do a bail out. The average Blue-collar worker all they seen was big buisness getting money and he or she didn't get one RED CENT.
What is hurting him the most is the status quo wanting to keep things going a certain way and that can no longer fly. We need badly the minority vote and he would be a great start to do this.
Oh how I can hear the doubters and all the others saying "Bring them all in! We need to tell the social Conservatives to take a hike!". Well folks you've been saying it for a while and they did and that's why we've lost again and again.
no
Look at the guy's record, please. If the ORP wasn't raising all his money (treasurer and sec of state races), he has no chance even in good R years.
Then in his quest to win a gubernatorial primary his two main campaign themes are repeal of a sales tax increase and the tax and spending constitutional limie. When you get past his one liners on these themes, Ken failed. He couldn't build and sustain an organization to actually implement anything.
Do you really need that kind of all talk/no action leader at the RNC?
And let's get real about his "true" fiscal conservative rhetoric. Anyone examine how he grew the budget at the sec of state's office or the many small business fees he raised in order to grow his office. Again, you have to do more than give a cute speech to be a fiscal conservative.
