The Great Lakes Compact is a great move for Ohio and I was glad to see all parties come together to support it. In the future we will be glad we signed it along with other states that border the Great Lakes.

The SW cant build water. Ohio can build any wind or solar or whatever they are doing out there. There is a difference.

Great job scoring this interview. I would like to see more interviews like this which cause readers to really consider issues and not just soundbytes. While I understand Chuck's concern about state's being too protectionist of their resources, at this point, I see no other option for Ohio and for Gov. Strickland than to take significant measures such as the GL Compact to protect Ohio's most significant asset.

Kyle and Ben: Great job on getting a sit down interview with the Governor! I believe an interview like this with two interviewers from opposite sides of the political spectrum is much more valuable to the voters than the standard mainstream media interviews. I'm glad to hear Governor Strickland is committed to working with both parties to get things accomplished in this great state. Much like the idea behind this site, people as a whole benefit when all sides come to the table. Great work. Hopefully the Beacon and other mainstream media outlets can learn a thing or two from you guys (but my guess is they won't).

We have stated that someday we will have the ultimate resource that evryone will need—WATER. Howevcer as Chuck indirectly alludes to will it become a battle of my rescource(oil, windpower, coal, water, etc.) vs. your resource thus not being of the benefit we hope for this region?

Thanks for the opportunity to sit in as you talked with Governor Strickland at his circular office conference table. I'm eager to see and hear parts 3 & 4.

What strikes me as an underlying theme is the value of "civil" civil discourse.

The two of you model this with your blogging. The Governor has demonstrated the importance of "civil" civil discourse as workable part of the dynamics of successful Legislative action and in Legislative / Executive interactions.

No one of us is as smart as all of us together. When we come to the table with a principled intention to find workable solutions, then we have at least the possibility that we can find ways to cherish individuals as individuals while acknowledging the necessity and role of societal governance.

Keep up the good work and hold fast to providing "civil" civil discourse even as Ohio gets flooded with less-than-civil discourse this election year.

First, Did Nestle ever succeed in diverting GL water into their bottled products? Is there any water diverted at the moment? I seem to remember Akron fighting this because it sits outside the declared zone, but Akron complained enough so that it would become an exception to the rule. How many other exceptions are there? Secondly, Mr. Chuck, it's more than just thirsty people. It's an environmental issue as well. Should we not just bottle up some water and send it to Kenya where they have little clean water? Lakes do disappear.Look at Russia. Lastly,he didn't ask you to take your coats off?
