So strickland is appointing a politically neutral person to the seat? That ammazes me at his incompetance as a party leader. If I was Governor whether a democrat or a Republican I would put in a person of my party who would run to keep the seat. By the way mr moran it is the ethically challenge democrat party that will help the Republican party in this one. Rich Nero already brings integraty to the district, at least its not your kind of integraty.

The similarities to the Dann situation is that both cases have an elected official resigning for ethics violations. Governor Strickland decided not to play politics and allow it to be competition for an open seat. Despite the fact that it is only 6 months, Nero will be a politically appointed incumbent running for re-election.

My mistake on saying that Widowfield will appoint his replacement. I have changed the post to reflect the correction.

Excellent point, Moran likes to talk about about a "new brand of leadership" but in the end his loyalties will be to the Democratic leadership and not the residents of the 42nd District.

Widowfield isnt running, so the district will get new leadership either way.

Having a non-politcal person run a political office, in this case a State Rep position doesnt make a lot of sense, unless the Moran camapign only cares about the politcal end of things, and not the actual people who live in the District who count on a Rep. to get things done.

And no, Widowfield does not make the appointment.

Yep, it's not Widowfield that appoints but the caucus. Kyle…it's Richard Nero, not Robert. Shouldn't be too hard to figure that out since you link to his web site.

As for Moran's comments, why shouldn't Nero get the seat? It's a Republican held seat and Republican voters voted for Nero in the March primary. It's completely different from the Dann situation. And why is Moran always lock step with the Governor? This guy is going to go down there and be nothing more than a party puppet.
