But he's a lightweight who did more harm than good for Kerry.

Either Edwards waited until the primary was decided to give his endorsement--kind of weasely--or Obama held him off to fend off some minor bad press because he knew the endorsement didn't really mean much.

Good post Kyle.

Ben says...."I will say the timing was good to knock Hillary's WV story out of the news, but you guys told me that didnt matter anyhow.."

Ben, WVa doesn't really matter in the larger picture. The importance of Edwards' timely endorsement is seen in the recapture of the media narrative. If only for a couple of days. The Knee Padders just can't get enough of their own race-baiting and racial smearing by association.

Edwards' endorsement stopped the ugliness for a bit.

The timing was perfect. It took attention away from Obama's lousy showing in W.Va and added fuel to the presses new line that the game is over. I wonder what Edwards wants in return? Call me a cynic but I dont think his only motive was what is best for the country. Hopefully Obama didnt promise him a cabinet position.
I cant wait for the next regime to be in place in Wash. If MCain wins he will enter an era of bi-partisanship with the Dem. majority. The result will be legislation crafted by the special interest groups of the rich and poor in which the working class of America will foot the bill. The new 5 year farm bill is a perfect example of both sides getting close to what they want and working suckers footing the bill.
If the Dems win the White House it will be the same outcome only more expensive for us those of us paying the bill

Ben, Edwards is respected by a lot of Democrats. This is a Democratic Primary. All that matters at this point is what Kyle and the other Democrats think.

I hope Edwards is the VP Pick, though I dont think he will.

He did wonders in 2004, helping in no southern states, not in north carolina, and not even in his own precinct.

Edwards has no executive record of experience. He didnt do good in the primaries, he flopped (being generous) in the 2004 debate, etc.

I will say the timing was good to knock Hillary's WV story out of the news, but you guys told me that didnt matter anyhow, so.....I dont really get it. I think Kyle and other Democrats think Edwards has more impact than he does. He showed in 2004 he had none and basically showed the same this year.

So I hope Obama takes Edwards as his VP.

Alex, overjoyed is something of an understatement actually. As a Democrat, I have been waiting for months for Edwards to endorse. My friends and I kept guessing as to when he would do it and have been wrong over and over again. Part of me thinks that Obama knew Edwards was going to endorse for a while and decided to play this card now after the dismal West Virginia showing. The timing is extremely helpful.
