Despicable – Even for Team Arshinkoff

As I predicted, something did indeed happen involving Alex Arshinkoff before the leadership vote Wednesday. Late Tuesday night I got word of a new low by Team Arshinkoff. This may be hard for some to believe, but it is true that he and his associates would go lower than previous times.
On Tuesday, Central Committee members all received a direct mailer. The piece in question stated that Arshinkoff ally and Ohio House member John Widowfield had introduced a bill part of which included that a section of Route 8 would be renamed for two soldiers who died in Iraq. The mailer falsely states, among many untruths, that the bill is being held up in the Ohio Senate by Kevin Coughlin. The bill was not brought up by Widowfield and Coughlin is not blocking it. He had no knowledge of the bill in Ohio's lower chamber until the initial letter was brought to his attention. One of the letter signers feels duped and used by Team Arshinkoff, as he was lied to regarding the facts of what was going on when they agreed to author the flier. Mr. Larry Large has a new letter which he wants out for people to view. It can be seen here via PDF. Widowfield and Don Robart were at Large's house, a man who lost his son overseas, until 11:30 PM Tuesday pleading with him to not write the second letter which corrects the record. Disgusting. The letter from Large reminds people what this was all supposed to be about – honoring two fallen heroes – not politics. And most certainly not the Summit County GOP race.
This is a last ditch attempt by Arshinkoff to try and smear Coughlin and by association Carol Klinger and the New Summit Republicans. You can decide for yourself, but lying about this topic is disgraceful and should be even beneath the chairman trying to cling to power. There really isn't another side to this tale. I feel terrible and even dirty having to write this post, but someone has to do it and get the facts out there. On a personal note, I want to say thank you to Mr. Large. It will be an absolute privilege to drive on the section of Route 8 named after Bryan and the southbound section of the road named after Justin T. Walsh. Nothing I will ever do in my life will add up to anything Bryan and Justin did for our country………..
Some of how tomorrow's vote will go down was also revealed tonight. The secret ballots will be counted by Bryan Williams, Arshinkoff ally. Yes, the same Bryan Williams who is a strong Arshinkoff backer who even sent a letter in support of Arshinkoff to all Central Committee members recently. Is this right – only one biased person will count and see the votes? Even in Cuyahoga County three people look at ballots! The parliamentarian, who will rule on motions on the meeting, is none other than Arshinkoff lawyer Tim Grendell. You might want to know this as well – one of the proposed rules would permit Arshinkoff to remove elected Central Committee members without cause and replace them with people of his own choosing. Seems fair!
As far as tonight's vote goes, I hope to have the results here before anyone else. Check back tonight to find out what went down at Tangier.

I cannot believe someone like Arshinkoff is allowed to hold a place of prominence in the Republican party. He is nothing but scum.
I'm glad we don't have that kind of "leadership" here. We actually support winners.

As someone who knows Mrs. Large I find this absolutely despicable. A family lost their son, husband, and father and it is all being used for political gain. This is absolutely disgusting and if Republicans keep the man who did this as chairman I will never support a republican candidate.
What team Alex has done is despicable, and thank you for bringing it to the public's attention. However, the author of the article is also showing disrespect by not even getting the name of the family correct. It is Large, not Lange.

Widowfield amended the Husted bill in committee with the road naming so the bill would get passed in an expeditious manner. It has sat in the Senate for the last ten months.
Larry Large called Coughlin last night and told him he did not want this letter sent out. Coughlin lied and told him it was too late, the letter was already out. When did you get this letter from Coughlin Keeler??
There is a letter signed by Larry Large rescinding this Coughlin letter. Coughlin knows about it, he was told by Larry Large last night. He doesn't care about what Larry Large wants, he's only playing the game "cover your @@@".
Why wouldn't Coughlin tell Keeler that Larry Large did not want this letter out after Larry Large called him and told him he didn't want this letter out?
Why was there no mention in this post that Coughlin's lackey Jon Turney and another male was at Larry Large's house for hours with another person last night begging Larry Large to sign the bogus Coughlin letter?
By the way Coughlin called Larry Large yesterday afternoon and threatened to sue him over the original letter. Nice.
The Coughlin letter, which has already been retracted by Larry Large, comes after the fact that Coughlin called him and threatened to sue him yesterday afternoon.

None of that is true "The Whole Truth." And I would never sue Mr. Large. He has had his grief taken advantage of by Alex Arshinkoff. I will sue Angela McMillen, who Mr Large says wrote the letter and sent it.

Whether or not the fathers' first letter is factually accurate or they were misled into sending it, the fact that someone would use the grief of the parents for thes two brave soldiers for political gain is, to put it mildly, unseemly.
What's unseemly is Coughlin threatening to sue one of the fathers.
What's unseemly is Coughlin not listening to the wishes of Larry Large and not retracting the letter.
Mr Large called me at 11:30pm last night. Widowfield and Robart were in his living room hounding him to reverse his decision to sign his retraction letter. I cannot believe the depths that these people will go to save Alex. These are simply bad people.
Large did NOT ask me to scrap the letter. He said that if we distributed it, he may follow up with a a thrid letter expressing that he wishes he hadn't signed either one and that he wants nothing to do with all this mess. Honestly, I do not blame him.
This is all just disgusting.

Coughlin better watch himself as Turney and Widowfield know each other intimately. Big John W. spends alot of time with the Village People. Karol, if you wonder how the other side knows what you're up to, I'd say look to John Jr. He knows how to play both sides of the fence. I think he hides a recorder in that gay beret he wears. I bet Alex just adores him!

This is absolutely precious. The Republicans are airing all of their dirty laundry for everyone to see. Thank you for destroying your local party from the inside out. We appreciate it. You think it was hard getting Republicans elected in Summit County before, how are you going to do it now when everyone sees how dysfunctional you are and how you can't even stand each other. Oh, and don't forget that Alex has probably pissed away a ton of your money defending his dictatorship. So much for financially supporting any upcoming campaigns. You've successfully delivered the county to us for the foreseeable future. Thanks.

In this case the story is the story. Don't attack the messenger for getting it out there.
Putting "Truth" in your name doesn't make it so. It reminds me of a wanted poster I saw the other day, the guys name was "Innocent". He wasn't, he was actually a convicted sex offender, and "Truth be Told" and "The Whole Truth" aren't the truth, they are lies.
This whole matter is the kind of sleaze we need to get out of the party. Alex and his cronies manipulate people, including fellow Republicans, to get what he wants. In one of his recent meetings with central committe members he admitted to trying to manipulate Judge Mary Spicer by supporting an independant candidate against her years ago. Last year, his sleazy politics lost the Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court Clerks race, where Widowfield should have easily beaten the unknown ballerina. He encouraged additional people to run as independents to try to draw votes from the Dem. Everyone saw it for the cynical manipulation it was and it blew up in his face.

Remember Alex ran his niece against Judge Spicer even after she won the Republican primary, because she wouldnt barter her integrity for Alex's favor.
She was so well respected that lawyers from both parties cam out to support her and she beat Alex's niece by something like 70% to 30%.
That story is very typical of Alex's leadership of the GOP.

As a postscript, the bill in question is now being fast-tracked in the Ohio Senate. Senate President Harris was not happy to hear of Widowfield's actions and has made this a priority.
One last thing. I want to reiterate how badly I felt writing this post. It wasnt fun. But if I didnt do it, this story wouldnt have gotten out. That would have been even worse, that people could have gotten away with what they tried to do.
Tell Harris of the Ohio Senate that Coughlin is holding it up. See what he says. Ask him what he thinks of Widowfield today.
This whole affair typifies why we have started the boycott of the ORP called “Not One Red Sent.” Simply, the party leadership has clearly tossed aside republican norms and is more concerned with power than being good stewards, whose mission should be the welfare of our state and counties.
Please take a look at our site and as support grows so will our endeavor. But we will not give one red cent to the ORP until leadership change occurs and republican norms return.

Widowfield should really watch how far he wants to go with sladering John Turney, that guy managed three campaigns for him and has enough to stuff on him to not only ruin his career but possibly get him indicted for various offenses. It is kind of amazing to see how quickly John Widowfield will turn on someone, Turney is a good example. Turney used to think of him as a brother, not to mention he got Widowfield reelected to the Ohio House twice and Widowfield repays him by slandering him with "annonymous" posts on the internet. That guy is quite a class act.
