Arshinkoff Threatens Tangier

This past Thursday, Alex Arshinkoff placed a phone call to Ed George, who owns Tangier on Market Street. Tangier is where the Central Committee meeting and big leadership vote is scheduled for this Wednesday. Mr. Arshinkoff threatened to cancel the meeting at Tangier (and presumably hold it somewhere else - maybe his house or office, because we are up against the last day possible by law it can be held) restaurant if his opponent Carol Klinger was allowed to hold a reception there before the event. George then told Klinger via phone that she could not have her gathering there. Another one of the plentiful examples of the Arshinkoff leadership.
We are always subjected these days to Alex and his bunch saying that only "a small group" of people are causing all this trouble trying to get him ousted. Well, he sure has spent a hell of a lot of money and effort against this "small group" of people.
I read one of the letters to the Beacon yesterday, written by Pamela Wayland of Akron. She said in her letter: I pray that the other members of the Summit County Republican Party Central Committee will see through all the lies, understand the truth and join me in voting for Arshinkoff at the meeting on Wednesday at Tangier. An interesting take on things, though I think most people would be reserving their prayers for other things no matter what side of the race they were on. Ms. Wayland seems fine that her money (if she donates, I don't know) is going towards keeping Alex in his job and not other things like helping Republican candidates. Actually despite the contents of her letter, the truth is that the Summit County Republican Party is in the midst of a dismal losing streak and that Alex is a liability now.
This won't be the last development before the vote; you can be sure of that. It just never ends with Arshinkoff - kind of like with Marc Dann. There will be something to write about always.

Who in the hell does Ed George think he is. If I was Alex after I won the vote I would tell Ed to forget any business coming from the Summit County Rep's. Surely Ed knew better than to allow something that Alex might have a problem with.
First of all Donald Duck Keeler, get your facts straight, Arshinkoff never talked to Eddie "the Cuckold" George, second of all George told the Party when the dinner was set up he would not have any other gatherings that night. George went back on his word, Arshinkoff should have moved the dinner elsewhere. Screw Ed George.
Soo you're allowed to blog, but Pamela Wayland is not allowed to express how she feels??? That sounds like the typical undeserved arrogance emanating from your side.
Hey Keeler, you gave money to Blackwell in 2006 right??? How did you like the Jimmy Petro dvd the New summit's are distributing??? Allegedly Klinger raised 400,000 for Petro in summit County…..right! Wow they were working against YOUR candidate!!!
I love how you clowns criticize Arshinkoff for being weak, but then you go on about how powerful he is that people have to secret vote because they are SO AFRAID OF HIM!!! oooooooooooooo!!!!
It's amazing how almost every state, federal and county ELECTED officals and candidates are NOT supporting your side. Oh but that's probably because you know better about politics then all of those folks who have actually won races.

But Wayne Jones and Coughlin blew it!!! They got greedy!!!! Shouldn't have chose varian, varian should not have fired ANYONE until after the election. But coughlin could not wait, he had to fire his former campaign chair's girlfriend, even though she was a good employee……
Alexis is at it again! Where's the tin-foil hat? How long folks before the FBI starts to question those "Loyal republicans"? How many felonies were commited by them? I heard that their phone records were subpoenead and there is a certain law enforcement group that will be around shortly. alexis, I hear there is some Jonestown Kool-aid left, you thirsty?
He obviosusly has a vendetta against him and gets out of control but might have a point here.
A lot of viseral pro Alex replies I believe are Alex himself. I believe however if he deserves or desires respect then he should show it to others. I still say this; The more he screams and rants and raves with all that hate that The New Summit has lost, the more I believe they have won. If this is a supporter of his that he has not "approved" then he should ask they stop and take the high road to show he is above the fray.
I heard Alex called his wife a 'duck' back in '92.
Mary Taylor supports the guy she pays to lobby for her construction company, that's who she supports. She supports the guy she pays to land contacts at the University of Akron to build dorms and stadiums. Make me rich and I'll say whatever you want Alex!
Remember that problem Republican employees at the Board of Elections were replaced with REPUBLICANS. And more on the way soon for those who have continued to play their games.

I love the "rules" that Arshinkoff is proposing to pass Wednesday night. They give him a vice lock grip on the party organization. They actually give him more power than he has today!!
Under his rules, Arshinkoff could throw anybody off the central committee and replace them with his hand picked choice. The central committee is elected by the people! That will go to court.
Under his rules, Arshinkoff can welch on his promise to hold secret ballots. I can already see him saying that secret ballots will take too long. Then he can see who votes against him. So insecure.
Under his rules, no one but him can be chairman. No public office holders, nobody with a real job, nobody who works at pretzel and andress. That goes to court too.
I also love how he's used this Jon Pavloff milktoast guy as his prop. This guy hasn't voted in a republican primary in 12 years! He's not even a registered Republican! He claims he didn't vote all those years because his wife was sick.. Funny, she managed to vote in all those elections. My guess is Alex if doing him. It's the only explanation for why this guy is Alex's front. Or top. Or bottom. Whatever.
You are wrong, pavlov's dog finally voted in the primary THIS YEAR when he ran for Central Committee and LOST! Hey alexis! Why didn't you throw drew alexander off the executive committee? He donated over $200.00 dollars to kim zurz democrat for state senator and he appointed gary moneypenny as chief deputy in his office? Oh, excuse me I forgot to say democrat on Crakron city council. The same city that when "Godfather in the Closet" came out you yanked all the in-kind to bryan williams you were going to do and drove the last director nuts at the BOE so they would quit and give the chip off the old block a job there since he doesn't know how to sell medical supplies. Did you not have a "By-law" against that? Helping out anyone in another party? Same old sorry song.
Scrape away Still Laughings insults etc. there are some interesting issues being raised. Is Alex using this vote to insure that by adding rules and perhaps changing others he is planning on increasing his authority? I would be interested if anyone has more info on his plans for creating a position that restricts those that oppose him now and more importantly in the future.

The question we might be asking in a few days is what happens now. If Alex wins there is going to be hell to pay for everyone who went up against him - candidates, bloggers, businesses, news outlets etc. What kind of fallout can we expect?

Great job with your reporting. Way to report what you think,and not be intimidated. What is truly amazing is how arshinkoff loyalists defend him so blindly….why would one man create such hate from so many republicans, enough that he has to raise 350,000 dollars to keep his job as county chairman? Isnt this a bad sign for any party…that your chairman is this divisive, and will go to all ends to try and keep his job…..I think any un-bias party looking at this situation would tell you there is a problem with this county party.

I just want you to know that you are officially a terrible person. I know, I know, who am I to judge right? Especially on a local politics blog, talk about meaningless existence. You guys actually spend your free time talking with each other about how great you are and how awful the other guy is when in reality the only impact you'll ever have on Akron is maybe, just maybe, you'll get to stand next to Romeo Travis in a picture twenty years down the road commemorating that historic St. V season which LeBron won't be in attendance for. Let's be honest the city will be dead by then, and maybe, just maybe you guys will come into power just as it crumbles. Much appropriated, or is it appreciated, it's all the same with you people in politics. I bet I've got you thoroughly confused now. Seems like your average donor, committee position, not one to rustle any feathers, doesn't make the news much. Talk about voting records, all well and dandy, integral to the democratic process. But I wonder…You say Mr. Pavloff hasn't voted in the last 12 primaries because his wife was sick, yet she managed to. I wonder, what the voting record looks like for these past primaries. I know the results, I voted in them. But you know who didn't? Sue Pavloff, Jon's Wife. Ya see, she died over a year ago. The cancer caught up with her and she left the city she loved. Never, ever, ever speak ill of the ill. I pray you someday come back to this post, maybe to apply for your next bout of patronage or reminiscing with an old co-campaigner or (god I hope there's karma in this world) someday you'll have children (probably not) and you'll be showing them your old records of political activity from when things in Summit County were really exciting….and I hope that you recoil in horror. You are a terrible excuse for a human being, I hope you are never overcome by an immense and unexpected sea of emotion (sadness, regret, mostly rage though) derived from a pointless pointless pointless blog comment.
