Ben, it seems the only thing anyone noticed from your article was Gore. As a Republican, the thing I noticed was…"Democratic voters would be disenfranchised!! Not just voters in Michigan and Florida". Oh how terrible!!! Thats just not right!!! The votes must be counted!!!! The world is coming to an end!!!! BEN, WHERE DID ALL THESE PEOPLE GO?!?! Ben, why not talk about Godzilla, fairies, or other fantasy-land things. There is ZERO chance of that Gore scenario happening. Talking about Gore being the nominee is WAY more absurd than acting like HRC has a chance (HRC has about a 3% chance).

As far as carbon credits, I don't know. Seems like something needs to be done. But I do love how the conservatives are suddenly railing against those that will make profits from a new climate-focused economy. The irony and hypocrisy is laughable.

Where are these conservatives complaining about the insane profiteering coming from the DEATH AND BLOOD of the Iraq war????

This, sadly, is a real possibility. Gore would be a formidable candidate for a couple reasons. Primarily, the fact that he will have had 8 years of a fawning media crying that he was robbed in 2000 (Sorry Kyle but he lost – and if you discount voter fraud he also lost the popular vote). Secondly, he has the advantage of not having been beat up in a primary contest. Add in lots of publicity from a Grammy, Oscar and Nobel prize all for highlighting a fake problem (man made global warming) and you have a candidate in a great position. He has to stay out of the fray so he can throw up his hands at the convention and say "I didn't want to run, but I'll do it for . . . blah, blah, blah." Gore failed divinity school and served in the military as a journalist yet the media considers him a genius and calls the guy with a master degree from Harvard who served as a fighter pilot (Bush) a dunce. Go figure. Unfortunately, a good percentage of the electorate don't have a clue.

Kudos–to the producers of the presidential election. The cage match between Hillary and Obama has been great theater but it is growing stale. By introducing Gore we truly have a three ring circus. We can all envision Gore playing the role of Vince McMann. While he is the broker at any moment he may rip his shirt off and rassle that nomination for himself. Carbon credits are the latest version of "indulgences" sold by the Catholic Church in the 1500's. This whole scam is nothing new. It's actually a pretty good idea that Gore latched on, as it is quite profitable and allows for his followers to carry on in their Gaia-unfriendly behaviour but assuage their guilty consciouses by giving a few dollars. Well done, Mr. Gore.

Phantom, I believe in the merits of the Electoral College and its role in giving smaller states a more fair representation. I was just stating the fact that Gore had more votes.

President George W. Bush is a Constitutionally elected President, both terms. If you are going to keep that going then I might as well as say this. bill clinton and George W. Bush do have something in common. Neither were elected with a mojority vote their first terms in office.

Having dark horse or unlikely candidates win the eventual nomination is not unprecendented, but seems highly unlikely in this case. Gore does not have enough popular support and would have even less by usurping Obama or Clinton. Let him continue on his environmental way where he could conceivably do more good. Let the Democratic show go on.

Kyle get your trash video out of my post. I dont care who is in it. The only thing I said about Gore's environmental record is that carbon offsets are a scam. They are.

And Rev, I would also say that I agree that this whole thing is not credible. But fun to discuss. I actually dont think Gore would do it and risk losing again…and he might not be able to own anymore carbon offset companies as a public office holder.

Just because someone has environmental credentials that doesnt mean that they should be president. A lot of women in my neighborhood go bird watching every week and also recycle household goods and belong to the Sierra Club. Should one of them be Gore's running mate?
