Investigation to begin into whether Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan
By Corey Allen-Young, CBS 11 News Reporter

Lawmakers will hire someone within a week to investigate whether Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The legislative council approved 100,000 dollars for the investigation that will find out whether Palin was angry at Monegan for not firing an Alaska State Trooper who went through a messy divorce with Palin's sister.
On Monday afternoon, the Joint Legislative Council, filled with Republicans and Democrats, voted 12 to 0 to formally call for an investigation against Governor Palin in a manner—that they are stressing—will be unbiased and done in a timely fashion.
Legislators approved hiring a special investigator to look into the controversial firing of former Public

Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Monegan was fired two weeks ago without explanation and has said he was pressured by the governor and her staff to fire a trooper who was once married to Palin's sister.
Accusations have risen that Monegan was fired for his refusal to fire trooper Michael Wooten. The council's intent is to investigate the circumstances and events surrounding the termination of Monegan and potential abuses of power and improper action by the Governor and her administration.
"It is the intent of the legislative council that the investigation be professional, unbiased, independent, objective, and conducted at arms length from the political process," said, Senator Kim Elton, a Democrat from Juneau.

I am a British Citizen who recently studied in the New York for one year, but I say on behalf of the 90% of British People vote Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. Even though I will not be able to vote in November I ask all Americans from whatever background to do the right thing and elect Senator Obama as the next President. My reasons are very clear America needs to change not only for it's sake but for sake of the whole world. Over the past eight years the whole world has suffered from an incompetent government in the name of the Bush administration and it is TIME FOR CHANGE. Even on the seventh anniversery of the tragic attack that killed all these innocent people in 9/11 the foriegn policy blunders that followed namely the Iraq War has cost America and the world so much. It was the biggest foriegn policy disaster for the Americans since the Vietnam War. It is ashame because I have so much respect and admiration for the American way of life but it's reputation in international terms are worse they have ever been. The American Flag a symbol of hope and freedom but it is the most burned flag in the world. But why is that the case ? In addition why do at least 80% of all people in the Civillised World and also Europe want Barack Obama as the next President of the United States ? I have deep admiration for the republican candidate Senator John McCain who is a real hero and excellent politian but he will not bring the change that America needs in the 21st century as he represents the politics of the past not the future. I was watching a evening comedy show as they were having a dig at both candidates and the similarities between the acceptance speeches of both Bush and McCain were uncanny and almost identical. On behalf on the rest of the world, we do not need another Republican Administration - no more of the MCSAME.

By age, education, background and desire, CAROL KLINGER is the perfect choice for the position of Chair, Summit County Republican Party. Give her a chance!

Regardless of one's understanding of how necessary it is to help the Party in this manner, this fact is universally understood: Alex must go; if not now, later.

Many people as they age, such as Alex and his ingrown supporters, appear resentful of youthful, better educated, better qualified people, but they have to get over it. The Republican Party must unite, forget this dispute and move on. The alternative is to die as a meaninguful political party.

Alex Arshinkoff may have been a good selection for the position of Chair some thirty years ago, but the job has grown, changed and he has not. He must be relieved of duty unless he develops the pride necessary to resign. Alex should be encouraged to resign. His resignation could send him off with praise and thanks from all quarters. In retirement, he could support Carol with her new tasks.

Alex and his supporters MUST learn to help in this manner. After all, persons failing to join the team in support of solution to a problem become part of the problem.

Respectfully submitted,
Tom Coyne

The example that sticks out in my mind was when at a coucil meeting she was questioning the city's equivalent of a quartermaster. He orders and accounts for the items we have in our warehouse. While I cannot remember the questions word for word Mrs. Klinger was upset that the city orders items for a 6 month period as opposed to on an as needed basis. Mrs. klinger got very upset and raised her voice at him and said something to an extent that it was ridiculous or ludicrous. This fueled her vote on a recent item to raise water rates to ensure that we would have reserve funds for the citys water department as many of our pipes are quite old and waterline breaks are becoming more and more constant rather than sporadic. She was quoted in the local paper as saying she felt we did not need to raise rates as we order items 6 months in advance.
To anne: I live in cuyahoga falls and have voted for carol klinger previously don't tell me how I feel towards a certain person.
To S Smith: I would call a man an asshole

Agree with S Smith. That language is offensive and nonspecific. Sounds like a guy who doesn't like a woman with a strong background and responsible job who has "a right to tell it" the way she sees it. You ought to be able to criticize someone's politics without resorting to inflammatory language.

Knowledgable: Instead of name calling, try giving us a specific example. "Acts like a bitch when she doesn't get her way" says nothing. Does she jump up and down? Call people names like you have? Shout over the opposition? Walk out of the room when votes go against her preference? I just can't take your comments seriously if you can't provide concrete details. She appears to be an accomplished individual. Would you call a man a bitch?

As someone who lives in Cuyahoga Falls and has attended city council meetings I know quite a bit about carol klinger. My comment isn't sexist. The fact that she acts like a bitch when she does not get her way has nothing to do with her gender as far as I know. I have a right to tell it as I see it.

Ben and I built our own blogs using Blogger, but this site is built with wordpress so we aren't as familiar.

I find "Knowlegable"s sexist comments about Klinger immature. What does he actually know about her?

I second the Alaska independent. Hyperlinks will be helpful for the readers of this column.
