Problems on Tuesday? Blame Blackwell

Ben's Header
Columbus Dispatch: It's 11 p.m. Tuesday, and Wolf Blitzer is standing in front of a big electronic Ohio map on CNN. Viewers nationwide have tuned in to see who won the critical Democratic presidential primary in the Buckeye State.

The only problem: Blitzer can't tell them. The race is too close to call, and the results aren't in — and won't be ready until early Wednesday or even later because Cuyahoga County and other counties still are counting ballots.

There seems to be some concern that because so many people are expected to vote on Tuesday that there will be delays in reporting and Ohio will look bad, expanding the undeserved reputation Ohio got from 2004 when George Bush beat John Kerry here (if Kerry had won everything would have been reported to go smoothly with a few people just having to wait longer than expected.) Funny how the story of all the fake voters being registered in Cuyahoga County kind of disappeared. Oh wait, that was a Democrat group doing it. It makes sense.

Is this really a big surprise - that more people that usual will be voting in the primary? Have the Ohio elections officials not been paying attention to other states? How is it possible they would run out of paper ballots? Wouldn't you just print more than the highest possible turnout projection? What is so hard about running an election? Provide ballots and count them. It seems pretty simple. Of course, now paper ballots have to be provided so all the paranoid people can feel like their vote will count.

If there are problems, one thing is for sure. Ken Blackwell won't be around as Ohio Secretary of State to kick around and blame. Jennifer Brunner and some Democrats will probably try though. They will have to aim their fire at some low level poll worker in some sparse county or something.

    *yawn*

Y'all are still living in a delusional state of denial. I saw how the burbs were provisioned, and I saw how the urban areas were provisioned. And I don't believe that the Cuyahoga County officials who went off to jail did so because of some disproven wingtard bullsh*t rumor, concocted to try to protect Kenny's back.

You lost in 2006 for a reason. And you'll keep right on losing unless you FINALLY get the message. We're sick of the Corrupt and dishonest Goppers in Ohio.

I hope that Ohio has record turnout, that everyone get to vote, and that the results are efficiently counted. Ben, I also hope you will give Jennifer Brunner credit if things go well.

    Ben,

Did you notice that we didn't hear anything about "voter fraud" or "stealing elections" in 2006? Of course not because the Dems won everything.

Was is it right wing groups or left wing groups who got nailed for registering dead people in 2004 and 2006?
I can't remember for certain, but I think it was some outfit that was associated with Moveon.org.

    Only in America:
They give us a paper ballot you read the directions you punch it at the place of your choice you check it to make sure you did it properly. End of story. Now we spend millions and millions and move farther away from a reliable system because a few people are too stupid or too lazy to fill out the ballot correctly. When will we learn you cant create an enviornment that will protect every person from his shortcomings.
